This is a quick, short post - I am in the process of redesigning this blog, all by myself, which is why things are messy and slow right now. Which is also why blogging itself has taken a backseat. Feedback on the current layout is welcome.
Last month, I introduced you to the No Makeup No Life beauty box from Japan - the entire thing costs $29.99, inclusive of worldwide delivery, with longer subscriptions bringing you some savings.
Their May 2017 box is themed "beauty must-haves", and is makeup-centric. This month's box arrived in very good condition, after last month's box turned up flattened. Everything in the NMNL box is always full-sized

- Brigitte Lasting Liquid Eyeliner
- Love Switch Oil Treatment Mascara
- Brigitte Smoothie Lip Tint
- Mentrum Petroleum Jelly
Lucky Wink Super Cover Foundation Brush
Japan's #1 selling oval foundation brush. This one is made of synthetic bristles, and can be used with liquid, cream or gel foundation. I have the entire Artis set and an oval brush from By Terry. This looks far sturdier that the disgraceful Etude House oval brush which broke off after a month's sporadic use (see review here). I use these oval brushes to buff out/correct my makeup at the end. You can never have too many brushes!Brigitte Lasting Liquid Eyeliner
This is a brown liquid eyeliner with a "super slim" brush. It is fast-drying and very precise. I haven't tried it out yet - opening liquid eyeliners unless you intend to use them continually is a bad idea, as they dry out faster.Love Switch Oil Treatment Mascara
This waterproof, oil-based mascara contains avocado, hazelnut, camellia seed, lavendar, olive and meadowfoam seed oils. It is waterproof, and promises lasting curl. I'll open it after my current tube dries up - it would be interesting to see what Japanese mascaras are like.Brigitte Smoothie Lip Tint
This shade - "Fig Coral" - is currently trending in japan. This lip colour contains pomegranate, apple, peach, grapefruit, and raspberry extracts. I have a sneaky suspicion that this is a tad too pale for my skintone, so I'm not going to swatch it; it goes straight into my giveaway box.Mentrum Petroleum Jelly
Japan's answer to Vaseline? Petroleum jelly is an occlusive that creates a barrier on the skin's surface. I have an uncle who swears by the stuff, but it makes me break out if I use it on my face, even above 10 other layers. I'll be using this on the body, particularly the knees, in dry weather.Verdict, giveaway, and where to subscribe
I'm usually into skincare boxes, but this one has makeup products that I can definitely use. I have a good mind to try out the lip tint, and, if unsuitable, palm it off on my aunt who prefers paler shades. At just $29.99 including worldwide delivery for five full-sized products, this is a very good deal. The June Box is themed "2-in-1 beauty products". I expect multitaskers such as primer-moisturisers, and lip-and-cheek tints. Stay tuned for the unboxing!
