September is LookFantastic's birthday month, so it was only natural to expect a special box. They had promised a BareMinerals lipstick in this box, and I expected a mini from the new Gen Nude matte lippies. There are 20 nude shades of this lipstick, so you cannot really go wrong with those. I had secretly hoped for the Gen Nude Matte Lipcolours - that would have really made my month. The box, as expected, is themed and designed to mark the second anniversary of the LookFantastic's launch.
Scroll down to find out what I received in the September 2016 LookFantastic Beauty Box.
I received:
- BareMinerals Moxie Lipstick in Get Ready (I KNOW, RIGHT?)
- Bliss Lemon and Sage Maximum Moisture Cream
- Christophe Robin Purifying Shampoo
- Argan Liquid Gold Multi-Tone BB Cream
- Gatineau Collagene Expert Eye Pads
- Lord & Berry Mini Strobing Pencil
BareMinerals Moxie Lipstick in Get Ready
When you send a lipstick within a month of a new product's launch (Gen Nude), naturally, people will expect that lipstick. Nonetheless, the shade is PERFECT for me.
Christophe Robin Purifying Shampoo
Now that I have short hair, I am giving up on CO-washing for a while, to get rid of years of product build-up from my scalp. Christophe Robin makes AMAZING hair masks, so I'm looking forward to trying his shampoo as well.
Argan Liquid Gold Multi-Tone BB Cream
I was worried about shade-matching - always a problem when you send out face makeup in beauty boxes - but this is supposed to adapt to the skintone. I suppose it is easier when coverage isn't full.
Bliss Lemon and Sage Maximum Moisture Cream
We've seen this in LookFantastic boxes before - even this year. I love getting body creams and lotions since I'm always running out.
Gatineau Collagene Expert Eye Pads
These moisturising pads will soothe and hydrate the under-eye area in just 10 minutes. I will be using them over the coming weekend.
Lord & Berry Mini Strobing Pencil
They were supposed to send out a luminiser stick, but I think those did not arrive, so they've sent this and a discount coupon to make up for the disappointment. I don't like the idea of swiping a thin pencil multiple times on my cheek when I can easily use a brush over a Becca powder or cream compact highlighter, or even a liquid formulation. Besides, can we please avoid any kind of pencils in beauty boxes for the next millennium?
Verdict and how to subscribe
While I can use five out of six products this month, I find the selection rather underwhelming for a birthday/anniversary box. True, there are three makeup products. But I should have liked to see something else instead of the pencil, and even the BB cream - maybe an eyeshadow instead. Or a mini-blush. Also, there are no full-sized products at all this month. Come on, it's the birthday month! One full-sized product and no repetition or pencils would have made this box really stand out.The October 2016 LookFantastic beauty box is the LF Pamper Box and contains a Laura Geller lip pencil, and five other products. LookFantastic ships worldwide tracked. You can order a beauty box here. Long-term subscriptions cost just £11.25 a month while individual boxes cost £15.
