Memebox Special 42 OMG 3 review, unboxing, December codes

The OMG series of beauty boxes from Memebox contain products with bizarre, weird and eyebrow-raising ingredients which are all the rage in Korea. Think snake venom in a face serum, volcanic pebbles for mattifying the face and so on - and those are just two of the products I received in my OMG 2 box, which is reviewed here. This series has proven so popular that Memebox has released four editions, each featuring different products.

Tosowoong Platinum Pore Tightening Pack
I love receiving face packs in beauty boxes. This is meant to control oil production and blackheads, which means this is tailor-made for me. It contains tea tree oil and platinum-gold powders. I have used it two times so far and loved it. This mask does a great job in mattifying my face. I cannot speak for blackheads, since I haven't had one in ages thanks to the Foreo Luna. The product is very creamy and easy to spread out.

The OMG factor here is the colour, which you can see in the photograph below. I would advise using this when you know the doorbell will not ring, because of the colour! If anyone is familiar with red sandal/red sanders/zitan wood, don't you think this pack looks just like that? The smell is strong; pungent even, though it does not remind me of red sanders. This, for me, is the best product in this box.

Migabee Bee Venom and Honey Cream
Some members of the British Royal Family apparently love bee venom facials (this blogger is, ironically, a Royal watcher AND a staunch republican). Despite the (total lack of) effect bee venom has had on those ladies' appearances, I have been wanting to try out skin care with this ingredient. I think Soap & Glory's iconic lip plumper, my favourite Sexy Motherpucker, contains traces of bee venom. This cream contains royal jelly, propolis, honey and bee venom and is supposed to gently moisturise, soothe and brighten the skin as well as reduce wrinkles. The texture of the cream is very homogenous and light. I will tell you more once I have used it long enough.
The OMG factor is the bee venom, which is soon becoming commonplace in skincare.

Cleomee Three Layer Perfume Donkey Oil Mist
Another very interesting product, this is a triple-layer body mist that contains donkey milk and oil. Cleopatra apparently bathed in donkey's milk and that was her beauty secret (*forcibly restrains self from writing about the length of Queen Cleo's nose and how it might have shaped history*). Donkey's milk is more similar to human breast milk than goat's or cow's milk, though I am not sure how that is supposed to improve skin care benefits. The contents of the bottle are in three different layers, as you can see below.

Shake up the bottle well and you get a homogenous green liquid, which instantly moisturises dehydrated skin. I haven't tried it out long enough to love it, but the three-layer mix-up makes this a fun product to use.
The OMG factor here is the donkey milk content and the colour of this product.

Tony Moly Delight Tint Crayon in 06 Neon Pink

In daylight, this lip crayon is a reasonable medium pink. Under strobe lights, it becomes hot neon pink! I am not a fan of neon anything, but love the pink enough to wear it in daylight. Pigmentation is decent for a lip crayon. Here is an indoor swatch in artificial light - one without flash and one with flash so you can see the neon-ness. No prizes for guessing that the OMG factor is the neon pink colour.

On The Body Makgeolli Soap
I like Korean soaps for how gentle they are and how mild and pleasant they smell. This is no exception. It lathers well enough without being harsh on my skin. I hope  Memebox includes more soaps! So where is the OMG factor, you ask?
The OMG factor is the Makgeolli itself. Makgeolli, or unfiltered wine made of fermented rice and wheat, is the oldest-known alcoholic drink in Korea, dating back to the 10th century. It contains lactic acid, fibre, vitamins and pro-biotic bacteria. You had me at wine. I already love this soap.

Summary

Alcoholic soap (not exactly, but...), donkey milk spray, blood-coloured face pack, bee venom, bold neon pink. This is not a subtle, faint-of-heart box. This is my favourite OMG box so far. I liked the contents of OMG 2, seen here, but I felt that apart from the Syn-ake and the Haruen volcanic ball, nothing much had that OMG factor. The products in the third edition are a lot more OMG. I look forward to more OMG boxes.
Memebox has not released too many boxes of late, which makes me wonder if the Global Edition boxes are going to be the only regular fare from them, with a comprehensive shop, and Memebox's own makeup range, here.
