Memebox Superbox 62 Just Gellin' unboxing, review

Are you a fan of gel-based skincare products and makeup? I am! Gel-based skincare does not break me out as much as creams or lotions do. And, I love gel eyeliners a lot more than pencil eyeliners, though I must be honest and confess that liquid eyeliners are my favourite. When Memebox released a gel-textured beauty box, I was definitely going to buy it! I expected a gel eyeliner, a gel-based lip tint, a peeling gel and a few gel creams, for starters. Find out if I was right.

All six products are full-sized. Here are my first impressions of each.

Dermahouse Ginseng Peeling Gel 120ml

Of late, I prefer peeling gels to face scrubs. They are gentler exfoliants and can be applied over existing breakouts without fear of the pesky pimples spreading. This gel contains papaya, ginseng and other oriental herb extracts. This goes into my cleansing/facial treatment cabinet.

ProYou Prori Vita Bright Moisture Gel Mist 100ml

Oh dear, this is the third or fourth time they have sent out a Prori gel mist in a Memebox and I think I have at least three of those. The fragrance is slightly different this time, but I have not even used the first one up yet! Off to swap/sale.

Original Raw Blue Jam Water Block Cream 50ml

Here is something new. This cream is raved about by Korean actresses because its hydration lasts for more than 100 hours, apparently. It is oil-free and has a "water block system" - don't ask - which supposedly prevents moisture loss. I love the way it looks and smells and hope it keeps my face flake-free during the drier months.

Secret Key Sheer Light Essential Gel Sunscreen 43ml

While this sunscreen may resemble other Korean sunscreens at first glance, this has a lightweight gel texture and is more hydrating, at the same time free of parabens, mineral oils, benzophenone and artificial colouring. Korean sunscreens work nicely on me and I love that they contain higher sun-protection factors, a must if you live in sunny, tropical climates. 

Hope Girl Waterproof Gel Eyeliner 02 Brown

Yes! A gel eyeliner! And best of all, it is brown. I have and love the J.Cat Fantabulous Gel Eyeliner in jet black from my Lip Factory Box and it is great that they did not send me black in this Memebox. While not as gorgeous as the J.Cat eyeliner, the formula of this is decent, smudge-proof once it dries and intense enough for me. I am tired of seeing Hope Girl in Memeboxes, but I do like this gel eyeliner! The enclosed brush is rubbish, though, and I prefer the Beautyblender Detailers angled brush for application.

Holika Holika Holy Berry Jelly Tint - 01 Cherry Berry

Of course there would be a gel-based lip tint in this box! I would have preferred receiving 02 Berry Berry since I am more of a pink or fuchsia person than a red person.

Summary and codes

A part of me wanted something unexpected in this box, such as a gel eyeshadow or something equally unheard of. Although most products in this box were similar to what I had expected, I really love this box and can use most things. It is great that they had this texture-themed box and I hope there are more such Memeboxes in future. It would be nice if they launched a bar-based box (no, not that bar although a beer-themed Memebox is something I NEED) where you get a solid shampoo bar, a conditioning bar, a face cleansing bar, a body butter bar and so on. That said, I do wish Memebox stopped repeating products in boxes. The Prori gel mist has been sent out ad nauseam now. That usage is not in proper context, I know, but it suits.
November has been somewhat slow where Memebox releases are concerned. Perhaps they are regrouping for the Holiday season?
