Finding a good concealer is like finding an oasis in the desert. They are few and far between. Several times, I have had my hopes up and then ended up with sheer, creasing, drying, milia-causing, breakout-inducing, caking rubbish, which would either leave a whitish cast or never dry and reflect every bit of light within a five-mile radius.
The IT Cosmetics Bye Bye Under Eye Concealer has been making waves on the beauty blogosphere for a while now. I picked the anti-ageing version of this concealer in my mid-year makeup haul here. It is always a better idea to opt for makeup with skincare benefits, and you can never begin too early to treat your skin.
Moreover, ever since January, my schedule has become so wonky that I have developed hitherto absent under-eye circles and some dryness. Having the most oily eyelids and face and living in a tropical and humid climate, I am glad this is also the waterproof version.
I love that this comes in a neat tube. It is easy to squeeze out more product that is required, so you need to go easy.
The formula is thick and creamy but not drying and is easy to blend. It is just the right consistency for me. Time Balm from theBalm is too drying on me. Benefit Fake Up is too "wet" on me. This is just right.
Pigmentation is really good. I will show you how it covered a post-wipe-up lipstick swatch in a minute. This concealer is supposed to stay on for 12 hours. I can tell you that it stays put during a work day. I have not tried to drench my face and see if it disappears.
This product is better on my under-eye area than on drying cystic acne. It enhances the dry flakes so I am using it on my eye area or over post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation. I wear an eye cream first and then wait for a few minutes before applying this concealer. The box recommends fingertip-application, but I have had better results with concealer brushes, especially the Sephora Pro Airbrush Concealer Brush 57. Second-best is the IT Cosmetics Dual Airbrush Foundation Concealer brush (the smaller head). But it is the Sephora 57 brush that gives the most flawless finish.
I do not use a separate setting powder but swipe my all-over-the-face foundation, Shiseido Sheer Mattifying Compact over the eye area with a light hand just to absorb any lingering moisture - I prefer a matte finish.
Mind you, unless I apply an eye cream, I have noticed dryness when I smile after I apply this concealer.
This is what the tan concealer looks like on my skin. As you can see, it has peachy undertones. I prefer yellow undertones, or neutral at a pinch, definitely not peach or pink. Which means this could have been a disaster. BUT....
Now we blend it. No trace remains!
I have wiped off this lipstick swatch, although a stain remains.
Can you tell where the swatch was? Look very carefully right at the centre of the photo below. Photo taken with flash so you can see what it looks like in different lighting.
This look below is with IT Cosmetics Bye Bye Under Eye Concealer, Bourjois Erasable eyeliner and a light dusting of Shiseido Sheer Mattifying Compact. No eyeshadow or mascara yet. Any hint of dark circles? Also, the peachy tones have not created much of a problem once I applied the compact, which is yellow-toned.
Summary
IT Cosmetics Bye Bye Under Eye is my Holy Grail concealer. It stays put, covers dark circles and does not crease. I would definitely recommend an eye cream and moisturising first, though. I do wish they would do what all foundation and concealer brands must do and release more shades. I would love an equivalent of NC37 with yellow undertones in this range. Or at least the same thing without the peachy tones.
This concealer is $24. Currency fluctuations will affect prices outside the US. I cannot remember how much I paid in dirhams and my invoices have long disappeared. But I notice that the concealer and brush set comes for $26 on QVC, which is an absolute steal.

Packaging of IT Cosmetics Bye Bye Under Eye Anti-Ageing Concealer
I am not sure what the difference between grey and black packaging is. They seem to be selling both on the IT Cosmetics website, so neither is outdated.I love that this comes in a neat tube. It is easy to squeeze out more product that is required, so you need to go easy.
Formula of IT Cosmetics Bye Bye Under Eye Concealer
IT Cosmetics, as you know, is cruelty-free. Bye Bye Under Eye is supposed to be an anti-ageing concealer. It contains hydrolysed collagen, niacinamide, peptides and Vitamins A, E and C. There are no parabens. The formula is thick and creamy but not drying and is easy to blend. It is just the right consistency for me. Time Balm from theBalm is too drying on me. Results with IT Cosmetics Bye Bye Under Eye Anti-Ageing Concealer
Unfortunately, there are exactly four shades in this range. Fair is for the super-pale. It was almost milky. I have read that it should do well on those up to NC20. Neutral Medium is supposed to be for those who are NC25-30 and NW15-25. Tan, which I had expected to be a shade too deep for me, is good for NC 32-40 while Rich is supposed to be for NC42-45. This excludes a number of skintones and these concealers may not work even for those who fall within these shade limits. They should really broaden their shade range. The same is the case with the IT Cosmetics Celebration Foundation. This is what the tan concealer looks like on my skin. As you can see, it has peachy undertones.
