Memebox Summer Care review, unboxing

Well, we are about halfway through Memebox Unboxing Week on this blog.
It was a masterstroke on the part of Memebox to come out with a Summer Care Special beauty box in the summer. It sold out very quickly, was restocked, and sold out a second time. It is a known fact that Korean sunscreens contain strong SPF and that the people there tend to avoid sun damage almost completely.
Being a Summer-themed box, I expected sunscreen, of course, and detan packs, a soothing sheet mask, maybe some kind of treatment for burns, a sun-protection spray for the hair, and so on. Halfway down, they changed the name of the box from Summer Care Superbox to Summer Meeting Superbox. Read on for more.

Here is my review and unboxing of the Memebox Summer Care Superbox 23.

The contents of the Summer Care Superbox are:

1. Finco UV Control Sun Block SPF50 60ml
2. CNKOS Transformer Solution set 170ml and 30ml
3. W.Holic Glutathione Whitening Essence 50ml
4. Borntree Bloom Mineral Avenue Airfit Sun CC 15g
5. Hope Girl Power Volume Mascara

Just five products there, all of which are full-sized. A quick look at each:

Finco UV Control Sun Block SPF50 60ml

I love Korean sunscreens and sun blocks for the body, although I admit that I do not use them on the face because I am way too acne-prone. The active ingredients in this one are zinc and titanium oxides. This will definitely be used! Incidentally, Finco won the Premium Brand Award in 2013.

CNKOS Transformer Solution set 170ml and 30ml

Ah, these Korean innovations! There are two bottles of these solutions. You mix them together until they turn yellow and thick gel-like in consistency, and then you apply the gel on sunburnt areas, for soothing. I have commissioned another empty bottle for the mixing so that I can get a couple of uses out of this. So far, it reminds me of the Fruit Of The Earth Aloe Vera after sun cooling gel, which I really like.

W.Holic Glutathione Whitening Essence 50ml

Obviously, this is for de-tanning and to reduce sun spots. While glutathione is an antioxidant, I fail to see any "whitening" ingredients in here. Given that I hardly go out in direct sunlight and have to take Vitamin D3 supplements, I do not need any kind of whitening. Moreover, I am against the concept; I prefer a healthy tan/glow. This has gone to whitening-favouring colleagues who actually believe this sort of thing works. Note the typo on the product, please!

Borntree Bloom Mineral Avenue Airfit Sun CC 15g

This is a CC cream compact with SPF35. You press the lid to get the liquid to come out of the little hole in the middle of the compact. Neat! I have not tried the shade yet, and have my fingers crossed that I can get a decent match.

Hope Girl Power Volume Mascara

Erm. What is a mascara doing in a summer care box? Right, it is waterproof. Still, for me, this sticks out by a mile. IMO there should have been a soothing mask, or a hair spray. JMO. Besides, I have a few mascaras from Memebox now, none of which are even opened, because I already have half a dozen mascaras under rotation right now (Lancome x 2, Too Faced x 2, Bourjois, MUFE, Benefit). This goes into my Swap-or-Sale box.

Summary and deals

This box contains a couple of good, interesting products. But it also has a couple of things that did not wow me. Not a bad deal, but could have been better. What I like, I really like.
