Can you believe that this time last year I owned fewer than half a dozen lipsticks? Of course, that is if we do not count the multiple tubes of Chanel Rouge Double Intensite I hoarded away.
Since then, I have come across five lipstick ranges I love almost - but not quite - as much as I love Chanel Rouge Double Intensite, seen here. One, obviously, is Bobbi Brown, as you must have guessed from the ongoinglove swatch fest. Expect that series to go on for another two or three weeks, at least! Another is the Benefit Hydra Smooth Lip Color, which I reviewed and swatched in one go here. The third is Mikyajy Sabaya, a Middle Eastern brand you have seen here. Fourth on the list is Givenchy Le Rouge, here. And, finally, carefully not mentioned by me so far on this blog, are the Too Faced La Creme Color Drenched Lip Creams.
The tube is a matte gold finish with the brand name and logo embossed. This is a great lipstick to pull out of your bag to reapply. Provided it stands the sojourn in said bag. I will clarify that ominous statement in another post.
They contain white lotus extracts and peptides, which are good for the lips, but no parabens. Too Faced says the formula "oozes with lip conditioning hydrators". I have to say that the feel of the La Cremes on my lips is even better than Rouge Double Intensite!
The forearm swatch is in natural, but very cloudy light.
On-lips swatches. I have an older picture taken in sunnier times. The second picture is in present-day cloudy conditions. No lip liner, primer, balm or gloss applied - what you see is the Too Faced La Creme lipstick alone.
This shade adds a nice bit of colour on my face but is not in-your-face bright. I love that the coral has pink tones to it. That makes me feel at home with this colour. I have been loving this shade this summer.
Summary
I am probably the only person to love these lipsticks a lot more than the Urban Decay Revolution lipsticks (swatched and reviewed here), which come at the same price. But then, I love quite a few lippies more than that UD lot. I am glad I picked up about half a dozen or so of these creamy, dreamy lippies and will have a swatch series of these as well. The formula is great, as also the colour payoff. For a lipstick this glossy, the staying power is nothing short of impressive. And, the cost does not break the bank. They are available at Sephora or at Too Faced.com for $22 each.
P.S. Bought by self, of course. Chanel Rouge Double Intensite continues to remain my HG lipstick, though.

Today, I have reviewed and swatched the Too Faced La Creme Color Drenched lipstick in Coral Fire.

Formula, pigmentation and staying power of Too Faced La Creme lipsticks
Lightweight and super-buttery, these lipsticks have a really smooth, balm-like feel and practically melt onto your lips. They are as smooth as smooth can be. For such a glossy finish, these lipsticks have really good pigmentation. Almost all shades leave behind a mild stain. They do not stand the onslaught of a meal, but last four hours without food. They contain white lotus extracts and peptides, which are good for the lips, but no parabens. Too Faced says the formula "oozes with lip conditioning hydrators". I have to say that the feel of the La Cremes on my lips is even better than Rouge Double Intensite!
Swatches of Too Faced Coral Fire lipstick
Coral Fire is described as a coral red. Nothing like my usual dusty rose, but I am liking corals as well lately, especially corals with pink undertones. And, yes, I do have some roses, n*des and pinks in this range, and will swatch them for you another time. I only need one swipe for opacity. The forearm swatch is in natural, but very cloudy light.
