You are probably sick of the spate of beauty box posts by now - I can't help it, eight boxes arrived within four days and I have to show you the lot! You will get a little respite next week, once the remaining boxes are done, and we'll go back to seeing reviews.
You are probably as sick of reading the intro to Memebox as I am of typing it, especially after the giant spate of Memebox unboxings I have been doing recently. For all information about subscription and shipping, check out previous Memebox posts here.
Now this is a box I really like. This is Memebox's makeup-only Superbox #5, with Memebox's favourite shades for Spring. Superboxes are Memebox specialties containing full-sized products. I was a little iffy about Korean makeup, although their lip products are as good as those of many mainstream brands.
The O& Designing Eye Collection is a palette with six eyeshadows and two cream eyeliners and two mini applicators. The eyeshadows are all complementary and subtle. Pigmentation is nowhere near my favourite Too Faced or theBalm eyeshadows, but comparable to MUA; you can get away with wearing these over primer.
The eyeliners are really nice and creamy, though, and sparkling. The palette design imitates Dior, doesn't it? I'll swatch it for you once I'm feeling better.
O& Easy Brush Liner is a regular pen eyeliner with a really fine tip. Not quite jet black, but definitely useable. I'll use this in an eye look shortly.
Alica Nail Polish in Cotton Candy is a classic pale-neutral creme. I will swatch it shortly. It will make a great base for Road Cherry Blossoms, which is a clear base with mauve, brown and pink hex, round and bar glitter.
The Drww Lip and Cheek Mix and Match is a palette with a lip balm, a concealer and three lip-and-cheek colours. There is also space for mixing them up and a small applicator.
A couple of the colours are really unsuitable for my skintone, but I can manage to mix them with other shades. I'll swatch these for you soon.
I will not be using the Etude House Face Designing Brightener, simply because I am not a highlighter/brightener/shimmer powder person. I'm selling this sealed soon.
The Macqueen Loving You Tint Glow is a lipstick-and-lip balm. There are two of these in this box - Lovely Pink and Vivid Pink. The packaging is part-Dior Addict, part-Revlon lip butter.
Even with the seal intact, you can see how Lovely Pink has broken and been squashed against the lid. I took these photographs of the product sealed so Memebox could see for themselves. I haven't heard back from them and their office is closed until May 6.
The moment I opened the seal, the bullet, which was stuck to the lid, came detached from the tube.
Vivid Pink, on the other hand, is intact and is one of those "your shade of pink" lippies - on my lips, it turns into the most lovely fuchsia rose. I love this! I'll do a full review one of these days.
Bottom Line
I will have hours of fun playing with everything in this box. That said, it would be great if their customer care addresses my emails about two broken lip products (so far) sometime this year. The amazing contents inside are what make me persist with this box despite all the issues.
I have another makeup-only box on preorder from Memebox and hope we see some Korean lip crayons in there! The 10-minute box is still available on their website, us.memebox.com. Make sure you email them to say Renu of My Beauty Junction sent you. I won't get points/money/samples/anything for it, but at least they may take notice of my emails!
Please support beauty box fans around the world by signing this petition to tell Memebox to resume shipping to all countries. They used to until March 31, and now ship only to select places despite promising they would ship worldwide again. Long story, but we need 56 more signatures asap! Thanks :)
