Remember Glam Guru? The Israeli beauty box that ships worldwide? I had bought two of their boxes last year - you can see box #4 here and box #5 here - and then they went on a hiatus from November, selling selections from each box instead of releasing new boxes. They finally announced release of a new box in March 2014, which was exciting for several reasons: First, they said eight out of nine products in the new box would be cruelty-free. For another, they said the box would lean more towards hair care, and goodness knows my hair needs TLC. Thirdly, they said there would be three full-sized products in the box!
This box costs $34 or EUR28, which is inclusive of worldwide registered/tracked shipping. To subscribe, email info@glamguru.co.il and make sure you tell them that Renu of My Beauty Junction sent you :)
Everything was nicely wrapped in pink tissue. Incidentally, this is the first time that I received the external box in good shape - the two previous boxes were sent during the heaviest rainfalls my city has ever known and came all soggy and pulpy, though the contents inside were in good nick. As usual, they have sent a pouch - black, like box #5.
The Wet Brush Squirts is actually junior size, but I already have the full-size brush! I was planning a comparison with the Tangle Teezer and the Denman Tangle Tamer, both of which have been reviewed on My Beauty Junction, when the junior brush arrived. I will do a detailed review soon, but you can see my original brush (unpackaged) and the one that came in the Glam Guru Box (in the packaging) here.
I only just began using the No7 Microdermabrasion cream, so I will not be trying out the Lavido Exfoliating Cream until I run through the No7 one.
This full-sized tube does not contain parabens or SLS and is not tested on animals. You can see the list of ingredients below.
The Lavido Evening Primrose Oil Moisturising Cream and Rejuvenating Facial Serum are both foil sachets. You know how I feel about receiving foil sachets in beauty boxes - you are paying for the beauty box, so the idea of paying for foil sachets, which can barely cover the pinkie, is not attractive at all. The Facial Serum is 100% natural and the Moisturising Cream is 98% natural. Both will go into a nice skincare hamper I am making for my Mum for around mid-May, and she appreciates sachets for travelling.
The Sunshine Cosmetics Loose Eyeshadow in Royal Brat is a beautiful golden brown full-sized powder eyeshadow. This will make a great all-over-lids colour, combined with something deeper for the crease. There is quite a bit of fallout, though.
Yet another organic sample in Glam Guru Box #6 is the Lavender 100% natural Deodorant. I think you are supposed to rub the cream on the pulse points or armpits. The instructions in Hebrew aren't helping, so trials will have to wait until I know what I am supposed to do with it.
We have seen Elin Blanco in previous Glam Guru beauty boxes. This is a treatment serum for the hair, and contains organic palm kernel oil. I am always running out of hair serums, particularly while travelling, so this is an ideal product to try out.
The Lanegev Handmade Soap is a miniature bar which smells of eucalyptus and citrus. It goes straight into my travel bag, as soap bars are ideal while on the go.
Dr Dabour Eye Cream and Anti-Wrinkle Cream are both foil sachets. Both contain orchid extract. Dr Dabour is an Israeli organic skincare brand. Neither of these contains parabens.
I will keep the eye cream and de-sachet it into a pot, as I am always on the lookout for a nice eye cream. The anti-wrinkle cream won't make any difference on me now (a fact that time may remedy lol) so I will add this to my Mum's hamper.
In a way, I am glad a tummy upset prevented me from doing this unboxing on video - I have no idea how to pronounce the brand name for Dr Melumad Revitage Day Essentials and Intensive Serum! Both are paraben-free. Dr Melumad is an Israeli brand. I love that Glam Guru included so many brands from the region this time - I love trying brands that you get only in specific regions.
Finally, there is the UniqOne Coconut Intensive Spray Mask. This is an all-in-one hair treatment that I cannot wait to try. Also paraben-free, this is made in Spain and is salon-exclusive. It claims to control frizz, treat dry and damaged hair, provide heat and UV protection, silkiness, smoothness and shine, protect colour, detangle, maintain style, prevent split ends and add body. That sounds too amazing, and I will let you know how I get along.
Bottom Line
Another good box from Glam Guru. I love the choice of brands and will let you know how I get along with some of these. I wish they had not sent so many foil sachets, though - the idea of paying for them is abhorrent to me. And I also hope Glam Guru comes out with more boxes this year!
