Panasonic Pore Cleanser EH2513 review, use, photos, comparison with Foreo Luna

Panasonic Pore Cleanser EH2513 review, use, photos, comparison with Foreo Luna
I received the Panasonic Pore Cleanser EH2513 with mist as a present a couple of years ago and had forgotten all about it until last year, when Visionnaire gave me the worst breakouts ever. I had spoken to my derm then and she had suggested deep pore cleansing as a preventive. This was before I owned Foreo Luna, so I hunted out the Panasonic and gave it a go.
This contraption is supposed to clean out your clogged pores without scrubbing or tearing, and the micro-mist will refresh your face before the suction thing does the job. But I'll explain all that.

Here is my review of the Panasonic Pore Cleanser EH2513, how to use it and how it works.

Packaging of the Panasonic Pore Cleanser

The body is white, made of sturdy plastic. The head is wider, and there is a translucent green cap.

You have a little place to fill water, to create the mist - it can hold a tablespoon or so.

The thing in the middle is the suction part that is actually supposed to clean the pores. The little hole at the right end is where the mist comes out.

The cleanser is rechargeable, though it takes hours to be fully charged.
The Foreo Luna charges up super-quickly and you get 400+ uses out of one full charge.

How to use the Panasonic Pore Cleanser

There is just one setting - when you switch it on, you get a super-fine mist, as you can see in the picture below, and the suction is activated. If you place this part over the pores, it is supposed to suck the dirt out.

I use the Panasonic Cleanser after washing my face, so as to soften it.

The cleanser comes with a little brush to clean out the suction head. This is not good enough, I use a Q-tip and a tiny toothbrush and oodles of shampoo.

Results with the Panasonic Pore Cleanser

Panasonic Pore Cleanser EH2513 review, use, photos, comparison with Foreo Luna
  1. First of all, when you place the cleanser over your face - even for just the fraction of a second - it causes that part of the skin to become a bit red. I apply ice as soon as I finish.
  2. Secondly, you can't use this every day, it is too harsh. I recommend once in two weeks..
  3. Thirdly, more than a pore cleanser, this works better in removing blackheads from the sides of the nose. It is easier to use the Panasonic than those horrible metallic blackhead-removing torture devices.
  4. This cleanser does not exfoliate the skin or remove sebum from the pores. Nor is it going to remove zits, even dried ones, or whiteheads. And never use it over acne directly.
  5. I do get gunk from the pores on the suction head after cleansing but I don't end up with a squeaky-clean feeling, if you get my drift.
  6. I know people who rave about it and who attribute the eradication of their acne, clogged pores and blackheads to this cleanser. I had good results with the blackheads but not the other two. I want something that prevents my pores from being clogged in the first place - by the time the pores are clogged enough for the Panasonic to work, I already have breakouts.
  7. Also, you have to really, really clean the suction head after each use. The gunk deposits in there and is hard to get rid of, and has caused breakouts for me more than once.

Comparison with Foreo Luna

I will be reviewing the Foreo Luna in detail later, and this is just to compare it to the Panasonic. I discovered the Luna in December 2013 and L.O.V.E. it! The Luna has silicon "spikes" that vibrate while cleansing your face, instead of a suction action. It's like this: The Luna "digs out" gunk from your pores while the Panasonic has the sucking mechanism. The Luna is WAY more effective, gentler and better for everyday use. And, Luna is like getting a full facial done, massage, deep pore cleansing and the works, while the Panasonic is more of just blackhead removal. Plus, Luna is easier to clean. If you are looking for a proper pore-cleanser that will keep pores unclogged, go for the Luna.
Bottom Line
I do use the Panasonic Pore Cleanser as a blackhead remover once in a while, but I can do without it, especially after buying the Foreo Luna. This cleanser is a lot cheaper than the Luna but that is where its advantages end.
