I really wish life would slow down. It all goes by slowly when you are in your childhood but once you finish your education, time whizzes past. Where did the first two months of the year go? I bet I will have to write about March empties as soon as I finish writing this.
In February 2014, I used up no makeup but finished a few skin care products, some of which I was glad to see the back of. Oh, and some of these were "finished" in February - I may have begun using them in January or earlier (since I get asked how I finish up large containers in a month lol). I am in love with a couple of products and will review them at length but, for most part, things were a bit meh.
Jergens Foot Cream: I have been using foot cream every day since December and I can see positive results - my feet look less ashen and feel softer. But I won't be repurchasing this. For starters, there are parabens, and for another, I am way too much in love with Soap & Glory Heel Genius and the Jergens cream felt nowhere near as good.
Clarins Eye Contour Gel: This cream did absolutely nothing for my eyes - no hydration and no effect on dark circles. It was difficult to absorb and left the under-eye skin feeling tacky. Will not repurchase!
Panthenols Aqua Repair: This was from the Beauty Box Swap That Went Horribly Wrong and was a PR sample reviewed on Our Beauty Wonderland. I used it up on my feet over winter - after chucking out half the contents since those girls had obviously used it, and giving it a sunning - and it is finally over. Didn't do much, the cream was difficult to absorb and felt too greasy.
The Cape Town Toiletry Company Hand Cream: I picked up half a dozen of these hand creams from the local supermarket. These are fabulous! No parabens. These are made in South Africa. The cream feels like silk and is absorbed quickly. Will repurchase!
Naisture Collagen Sheet Mask: This is from A Beautiful World Christmas Edition box - they sent me six of these very good sheet masks.
Etude House Heart 5 Berry Complex Sheet Mask: I had got this as a sample from one of my Korean skin care hauls. This was the best sheet mask I used in February. There was enough serum for all-over moisturising and it felt cooling and hydrating.
Jane Clare Blueberry Revital Firming Sheet Mask: Of the three sheet masks I used up in February, this one - from Glamabox - was my least favourite. The serum was stickier than the other two and I didn't like how it smelled or felt on the skin.
Boots Cooling Eye Mask: I picked up a box of these from Boots in Dubai and love them! They make my eyes refreshed and look brighter the following day. I will repurchase.
Ifren Eye Mask: The packaging claimed this would eradicate dark circles overnight. Yeah, right! Apart from sticking to my under-eye area like glue till I had to prise off the pad - which hurt and stretched the skin - it didn't do a thing!
La Roche Posay Toleriane Cleanser and Intensive Soothing Fluid: Also from Glamabox. I did not like the La Roche Posay Effaclar range one bit but the Toleriane range is very good. Loved the cleanser, which is mild and makes a good combination with Foreo Luna. And the Soothing Fluid is a very good, gently face moisturiser, which, most importantly, did not break me out. Contemplating repurchase once I run out of face moisturisers.
Amore Pacific Natural Protector SPF30: Got this from my friend Shivani. You got to love how she sends out two sachets so there's enough for a decent go. I liked how this sunscreen cream felt on me. So far, I have loved everything I've tried from Amore Pacific.
Algenist PoreCorrector Gel Moisturiser: It didn't do much for my pores which remained as crater-like as ever. 'Nuff said.
Clarins Defining Eye Lift: This is from the Vanity Trove Box. I don't think my eyes need a lift, but even so, it didn't do a thing for me. It felt like water and I had the feeling I had applied a drop from a faucet to my eye area. Meh.
PureCeuticals Pumpkin Enzyme Cleanse: From my December Lip Factory Box. I used this to clean my face for three days after wisdom tooth extraction before it ran out. It smelled amazing - minty-pumpkiny. There wasn't much lather but it did a good job when I couldn't apply anything else on my swollen face at the time. Considering repurchase.
Glam Glow YouthMud TingleExfoliate Treatment: Also from Shivani. This. Is. Amazing. I won't say another word for now, though you want to know more! I have not finished this - I've de-sacheted it and there is as much as there is in that pot left to be used up - at least five uses. I will do a detailed review soon.
Bottom Line
Quite a few negative reviews there. Apart from the Glam Glow mask, the PureCeuticals Cleanser, the Boots eye mask, LRP Toleriane and the hand cream, I was not interested in anything else I finished up in February.
