As anyone with super-oily skin can attest, foaming cleansers tend to make skin feel a bit tight and pulled back. I tend to give them just the one try before passing them on or binning them. I received a packet of Etude House Milky You One Step Cleansing Foam with my W2Beauty haul as a freebie and read up a bit about it online and the claims were impressive, so despite my disdain for foaming cleansers, I decided to give it a try.
Etude House claims this cleanser will adhere to makeup and instantly melt away dirt, impurities and makeup and reveal moist and baby-smooth skin. It also says there are milk ceramides in the product, which moisturise the skin for hours. It also contains lauric acid, which is supposed to help fight acne, but could irritate very sensitive skin. My skin was fine with it.
The formula is white and opaque but runny and slightly tacky. You only need a fingertip-blob of product to cover the whole face. It doesn't look like a typical foaming cleanser but more like a creamy cleanser.
The downside - it doesn't remove makeup very well. You'll be fine if you've already taken off the war paint with a makeup remover, but if you go straight to this cleanser, you'll be left with mascara, lipstick, eyeliner, even traces of eyeshadow adhering to the skin, though it gets rid of foundation well enough.
Bottom line
This is a decent, gentle foam for use with the Konjac sponge or the Foreo Luna as part of your skincare routine, but as a makeup remover, it isn't up to scratch. You can buy it from W2Beauty (here) or any other Korean cosmetics website you like. Prices vary on different websites, so please compare and contrast before you buy Korean skincare.
Here is my review of the Etude House Milky You One Step Cleansing Foam.
There was enough in the packet to fill a 15ml jar, and it lasted through two weeks, with one use a day. It had a strong smell of coconut, though, which I didn't like. I think they must have meant coconut milk and not the regular milk. Etude House has listed the benefits of milk for the skin, on the packaging, so I expected a milky fragrance. Think Cleopatra's baths :)Etude House claims this cleanser will adhere to makeup and instantly melt away dirt, impurities and makeup and reveal moist and baby-smooth skin. How I used the Etude House Milky You One Step Cleansing Foam
I used this once a day (I use a prescription anti-acne face wash in the mornings), with either the Konjac sponge, or the Foreo Luna, both of which I alternate. The cleanser lathered up on the damp face very quickly and only a little product was required - it felt quite gentle on the skin. Post-rinsing, there was no tautness or tightening of the skin. I didn't get any breakouts either. The downside - it doesn't remove makeup very well.
