The No7 Protect and Perfect Beauty Serum is one of the best-selling skin care and anti-ageing serums of all time, so I did want to know what the hype was all about. For a drugstore brand, the serum retails at Boots for £22.95. A BBC documentary and research by Manchester University have found that the serum actually works at softening wrinkles and reducing pores when used over a long time, so it is a bestseller. Read an article in The Guardian about the serum here.
Read the impressive label to know what it claims to do:
Packaging: A clean, translucent tube. Nothing too fancy. A thin nozzle, nothing unhygenic here. Easy to control the amount of product, and to see how much is left inside.
Results: Over the last six weeks, the No7 Protect and Perfect Beauty Serum has made my face smoother to touch, brighter, and my pores slightly smaller. I can skip a primer with this because of the smoother canvas it provides. However, I can't be sure about wrinkles, because I don't have any - or the younger skin part. It doesn't help mattify or reduce oiliness, though. Also, it broke me out initially, though the breakout subsided with a bit of Oxy 10. Nor does the serum have any effect on pimples or pigmentation.
Repurchase? While I've liked using this, I have at least three full-size skin care serums waiting to be used - Lancome Visionnaire, Estee Lauder Perfectionist and Lancome Advanced Genefique, so I won't be buying a skin care serum for a while. Plus, I'm working on staying away from parabens.
