John Lewis Beauty Advent Calendar 2017 Spoilers, Contents

With products worth £309, and a price point that is less than half of that, the first-ever Beauty Advent Calendar by John Lewis is certainly worth owning.
John Lewis is one of several names venturing into the world of beauty Advent Calendars for the first time this year. Harrods is another - stay tuned to this blog for all the details. Soap & Glory is a third debutant, as is Sleek. As also Estee Lauder and Tanya Burr. EEEEEE!
With so many new names out there, I'm hard-pressed to choose - I've got my LookFantastic Beauty Advent Calendar so far, but need to make up my mind on the others.

Before I tell you what's inside, take a look at the pretty packaging - black with snowflakes. Not OTT or too blingy, but tasteful and Christmassy.

Some very big names in there. Cult products such as the NARS Orgasm blush. I love that the perfumes aren't measly 1-2ml vials, but a bit more substantial. I'll tell you the downside of having so much perfume - FIVE - in a minute.

Apart from the five perfumes, there are seven makeup products, 12 skincare/bath and body products, and one hair care product. Not a bad breakup. We know these are always going to be more skincare-centric, but after seeing Advent Calendars with two to three colour cosmetics, I'll be pleased to get seven.

Verdict, and where to buy

A decent debut. I like that there are giant names such as Nars, Omorovicza, Zelens, Clarins, Laura Mercier, Marc Jacobs, Charlotte Tilbury, and Guerlain. John Lewis says there are full-sized products in here, though I haven't been able to calculate the exact ratio.
That said, this is probably not THE best beauty Advent Calendar out this year, both in terms of pricing as well as the product size and curation - this is £149, while LookFantastic's is just £79, inclusive of delivery. OTOH, I don't expect the LF calendar to contain NARS, Charlotte Tilbury, and so on, BUT it will have more full-sizes, and an equally good range of products, not to mention more makeup. But I'm glad more names are joining the Advent Calendar bandwagon - more options is always good.
Now, remember I told you there was a downside to all those perfumes? Yep. No worldwide shipping. In fact, no shipping outside of the UK. Boo. Hiss.
