Bourjois Air Mat 24hr-Hold Foundation was among my 2015 Foundations of The Year - see full post here - I see this foundation making the list again easily this year. It has also become my favourite drugstore foundation, trumping the famous Bourjois Healthy Mix.

The easy-to-squeeze tube packaging is perfect for klutzes who tend to knock down bottles from their vanities. It is also convenient for travelling. I'm glad Bourjois did not repeat the Healthy Mix glass bottles here.
As you can guess from the name, the foundation promises light-as-air texture, gliding application, perfect control and complete coverage. It also claims to give 24-hour hold and an undetectable matte finish. It contains mattifying micronised powders that do not give a mask/cakey effect.

Formula, coverage and staying power of Bourjois Air Mat Foundation
- 'Cone-based formula.
- I adore the coverage, one of the best I have seen for a drugstore foundation.
- It does not feel heavy and applies nicely with a damp Beautyblender. I have not tried it out with a brush.
- The finish is not flat matte, but demi-matte on me - note: I have very oily skin. I do not have to blot off the oil for three hours or so, which is a nice statistic for me.
- The staying power (and coverage) is better than Revlon Colourstay and Bourjois Healthy Mix (previously loved drugstore foundations).
- I touch up lightly with a compact after lunch out of habit but can get away with just blotting the oil.
- No breakouts yet.
Shades and swatches of Bourjois Air Mat Foundation
As is usual with Bourjois foundations, there are just six shade options, ranging from Ivory Rose to Hale Clair. However, unlike previous Bourjois offerings, which focused on red/pink undertones, there are some yellow-toned shades in this range. 04 Beige and 05 Golden Beige are two yellow-toned shades. I picked both, found 05 a tad too deep and palmed it off on my Mum.Here is Beige swatched on bare skin, in natural light.

Verdict and where to buy
This is an excellent drugstore foundation for those needing very good coverage. I love the formula, staying power, coverage, how it does keep my face matte and the shade match. However, the majority of the shades seem to be yellow-toned, so people with pink tones might have to opt for Healthy Mix or 123 Perfect or another range from Bourjois. Also, if you prefer sheer coverage, then this is not for you.The foundation costs £9.99 and is available here - worldwide shipping is available, and they often have 3-for-2 on Bourjois.
