A full-sized, cruelty-free makeup-only beauty subscription!
Beauty boxes generally send out a lot of skincare; very few subscriptions give more importance to makeup, especially full-sized makeup products. For makeup lovers and for those who prefer cruelty-free beauty products, here is a new subscription - the Lip Love Monthly beauty bag from So Susan Cosmetics (see their website here). They ship worldwide!
The company is founded by Susan Chyi, who had also set up Jelly Pong Pong - remember those products in Glossyboxes? She began her first venture into the cosmetics industry aged 19, while at the LSU. The brand is headquartered in Essex, UK, and is paraben-, phthalate- mineral-oil- and 100% cruelty-free. They had a nail polish subbie named Lacquer Love until recently; it made way for Lip Love.
Lip Love features a beauty bag with four products, of which at least three will be lip-based. They may or may not be multifunctional. All products will be full-sized. Best of all, they send you previews so you can skip a month if you don't like the look of the contents. The inaugural number of the bag is themed Red Carpet Stars.

The bag is not one of those cheap vinyl affairs. This is good quality canvas. And cute to boot!
The product card.
What I received:
- Eco Chic Canvas Makeup Bag 7.5 inches x 5.5 inches
- Lip Dome in shade Melon
- Jelly Pong Pong Supermodel Stain quad
- Lip and Cheek Jelly
- Red Carpet Stars Silver Anklet Chain
- The product card says Concealer Quad but I've got a single concealer named "Cream"
Lip Dome in shade Melon
They sent me a subtle, neutral lippie. I wonder how they knew that! I had not spoken to them or mentioned my blog but just hit checkout. Containing goji berry, mangosteen and hyaluronic acid, this lip tint, like everything from So Susan Cosmetics, combines makeup with skincare goodness. I've swatched everything at the end of the post.Jelly Pong Pong Supermodel Stain quad
This is a quad of four colours that can go on the lips and cheeks, according to the label. Two of these shades are way too pale for my lips and will wash me out, so they will only serve as mild cheek stains. But one of the shades is gorgeous, as you will see below in the swatches. I love the cute packaging on all these items.Lip and Cheek Jelly
Does anyone remember The Body Shop's lipstain tubes? This is a thicker and more viscous version. It is my Mum's favourite fuchsia shade, so with Mothering Sunday around the corner, I might give it to her. I would like to see different shades in this beautiful formula in future bags, especially in neutral shades.Concealer Quad
The product card says Concealer Quad; the website PROMISED a concealer quad (displayed in the photograph and written in the description so there is no way I misunderstood), but I've got a single concealer named "Cream", which is simply too pale for me. I wrote to their customer care and they replied saying they had run out of the quad and sent me this instead! I'm not pleased to miss out on the quad; I think you should provide all customers with the same thing your promise. I hope they send out the same thing promised to everyone in the next box and avoid this sort of mess up, which will only give rise to cries of bias.Red Carpet Stars Silver Anklet Chain
I will be wearing this on my wrist. I cannot stand anything on my feet anyway - can you imagine the biggest fidget of the decade wearing anklets?Swatches
Left to right: Lip Dome in Melon; Cheek Jelly; Supermodel Lip Stain quad; Concealer in Cream.Verdict and how to buy
This Lip Love beauty bag from So Susan Cosmetics is a great first effort. Cute packaging, great product selection and nice value - the bag's worth has been pegged at $92.95 or £68. The bag itself costs $20.95. If there is one thing I was not too pleased about, it was the single concealer they sent me instead of the promised quad, so I hope things will improve next month onwards? As I said before, you can sit out a month if you don't like the preview they send you. Everything is full-sized and cruelty-free and they only send out makeup, so the price point is definitely worth it. Get your bag here.
